Operating the Breakers

Ground fault circuit interrupter Check the breakers' switches Safety breakers Panel board Some of the breakers' switches may not move fully down when they are tripped. Pull such switches fully down before pushing them up. The panel board on which the breakers are installed is located in the user's kitchen, hallway or similar place. Power has stopped in part of the residence only  How to tell:A safety breaker has turned off. Power has stopped in the whole or part of the residence  How to tell:The ground fault circuit interrupter is on and the safety breakers are on too. Power has stopped in the whole of the residence  How to tell:The ground fault circuit interrupter has turned off. The cause is probably an electric appliance that was switched on just before the power stopped, causing the power capacity to be momentarily exceeded. The cause is either overuse of electricity in the residence as a whole, or else a ground fault. Action to take  1)Disconnect the plug of the electric appliance that was switched on just before the power stopped. 2)Turn back on the breaker that has turned off. Action to take  1)Turn off all of the safety breakers. 2)Turn the ground fault circuit interrupter back on. 3)Turn the safety breakers back on one by one. Power comes back on. * Problem solved! Contact a nearby Chugoku Electric Power Service Office The safety breaker turns off again. All of the safety breakers can be turned on and the power comes back on. * Problem solved! As you are turning on the safety breakers, the ground fault circuit interrupter turns off again.  4)Turn off the safety breaker that you turned on just before the ground fault circuit interrupter turned off again.  5)Turn the ground fault circuit interrupter back on again, and finish turning on all of the safety breakers except the one you turned off in 4). All of the power should come back on, except in the affected part of the residence. The power can now be used as before. You should reduce the quantity of electric appliances you use in the residence, especially in the affected part. After you have done so, if the breaker in 4) still cannot be turned on without tripping the ground fault circuit interrupter, then a ground fault is probably present.
