Please tell us the following things if you apply via telephone:
Before leaving your old address (when applying for termination of electricity use at your old address), please tell us:
- Your name, current address and telephone number
- Your electricity contract number with us
- The date and time you are scheduled to move and the address you are scheduled to move to
- How you would like to settle the final electricity bill for your current address
If you will be using electricity for cleaning, etc., at your current address on the day of the move, please tell us so.
Before moving into your new address (when applying for start of electricity use at your new address), please tell us:
- Your name, the address you will be moving to and your telephone number at the new address
- The date and time you are scheduled to move to the new address
- How you will be paying your electricity bills at the new address
- Note
- We recommend you to pay your electricity bills by automatic transfer, as it is an economic and convenient method.
If you are already using automatic transfer to pay electricity bills at an address within our service area, you can continue paying by that method without any new formalities, so please tell us if you want to do so.
Instructions for when you move into your new address
At your new address:
In order to be able to use electricity when you move into your new address, you must turn on the circuit breakers and the ground fault circuit interrupter. When you do so and the power comes on, please fill out the necessary items in the postcard provided and mail the postcard. Should the power not come on when you turn on the breakers, etc., please contact the nearest Chugoku Electric Power Office. (Japanese text only)
Contracts for power for electric water heaters, commercial air conditioners and similar must be applied for in advance. Customers who have made such advance application do not need to send in the postcard.
About using electric water heaters:
- Before using an electric water heater, make sure that there is water in the tank. (The heater could break down if it is operated with an empty tank.) Please note!
- If you will be using an electric water heater at your new address on the day that you move in, the power to it will have to be turned on the day before, so please apply for electricity use at the new address to start on the day before the move.
- If the heater won't start up, it could be because it is set to stay off until later on the remote control timer, so be sure to check the remote control timer.
Choosing the type of electricity contract for your new address
There is a choice of types of electricity contract - select the one that suits your lifestyle.

In the following cases you must make an application to us:
- If you change your contract type
- If you choose to begin using one of our charge discount services.
- When you terminate or start use of our electricity due to an address change or other circumstance.

We determine each customer's contract type (Flat-Rate Residential Lighting, Public Street Lighting, Meter-Rate Lighting A and B, Low-Voltage Power, etc) according to the capacity and other characteristics of their electric equipment. Therefore customers must formally notify us if their electrical equipment is added to, changed or taken away.
For example you must notify us if you have an electric water heater put in, or trade in your old electric water heater for a new one, or have your electric water heater disposed of. (Consult the nearest Chugoku Electric Power Office for more details.)
Cautions for Using Electric Products
Pay attention to the frequency
Japan uses two(2) different power supply frequencies: 50 Hz in eastern Japan and 60 Hz in western Japan.(The boundary between the eastern and western frequency regions is situated about the Fuji River in Shizuoka Prefecture and the Itoi River in Niigata Prefecture.)That means that Chugoku Electric Power uses 60 Hz.
Each item of electric equipment has "50 Hz","60 Hz", or"50/60 Hz" indicated on it. Equipment with the "50/60 Hz" indication can be used anywhere in the country, but equipment on which a single frequency is indicated is for use only in the applicable region.
Check the frequency indications on your electric equipment when you change address.
Rough guide to equipment affected by frequency
- The following equipment can generally be used anywhere in the country:
- Electric rice cookers, electric hot water pots, toasters, kotatsu heated tables, irons, incandescent light bulbs, TVs, radios, PCs
- The following equipment can generally be used anywhere but may suffer a fall in performance if the frequency region changes:
- Vacuum cleaners, cooling fans, hair dryers, refrigerators, ventilation fans, juicers/mixers
- The following equipment can generally be used only in one frequency region (it will require parts replacement and/or other modification to be used in the other region):
- Washing machines, clothes dryers, microwave ovens, timers, mercury lamps, fluorescent lights (but inverter-type fluorescent lights can be used in both regions)
- Note
- The above information is broadly speaking accurate but the actual facts may differ somewhat depending on the equipment models. For further details consult the electrical goods store or manufacturer.
